March 2025 RV Sales Report – Final 2024 Numbers & Market Trends

Now that all the 2024 sales numbers are in, we can finally take a clear look at last year’s RV market.
If you’ve been wondering whether RV sales were up, down — and what that means for buying or selling in 2025 — this report is for you.
The data for this report come from Statistical Surveys, Inc. (www.statisticalsurveys.com), the go-to source for tracking RV sales through actual registrations.
Since registration data takes about two months to process, this is the most up-to-date look at how 2024 really played out.
Let’s break it all down.
2024 RV Sales Overview: The Big Picture

We spent most of last year hearing “Shipments are up! Shipments are up!” — which sounds great — until you look at what people were actually buying.
- Total RV registrations for 2024: 356,518 units sold (down 6.9% from 2023)
- That’s 26,826 fewer RVs hitting the road compared to 2023 (383,344 registrations).
But here’s the interesting part:
- Shipments vs. Sales: RV manufacturers built 333,733 units, yet 356,518 were purchased.
- More RVs were sold than were built — reducing overall dealer inventory.
KEY TAKEAWAY
Despite all the talk of rising shipments, the RV industry is still working through a surplus of units from previous years. This means dealers are stocking fewer models, manufacturers are tightening production, and pricing trends are shifting.
New RV Sales Breakdown: What’s Selling & What’s Not?
The short version? Almost every RV category saw a decline in sales — except for Park Models (more on that in a second).
2024 New RV Sales by Category:
- Travel Trailers: 245,648 sold (down 5.9%) – Still the most popular choice, but demand is softening.
- Fifth Wheels: 61,318 sold (down 8.1%) – Higher costs make them more sensitive to interest rate changes.
- Pop-ups: 5,217 sold (down 24.4%) – A rough year for tent campers.
- Class A Motorhomes: 8,744 sold (down 15.9%) – Luxury motorhomes took the biggest hit
- Class C Motorhomes: 20,699 sold (down 5.0%) – A more stable category but still trending downward.
- Class B Vans: 10,514 sold (down 19.5%) – Van life is still strong, but high prices are pushing some buyers away.
- Park Models: 2,996 sold (up 12.2%!) – The one category that grew.
So why are Park Models (those tiny-house-style, semi-permanent RVs) seeing growth?
It’s likely tied to rising housing costs. More people are looking at Park Models as an affordable housing alternative, especially for seasonal or full-time living.

This Month’s Wild and Crazy Stat!
December 2024 RV Registrations:
U.S.: 9,856 units sold
Canada: 339 units sold
Yes, weather plays a role, but that’s still a massive difference.
What do YOU think is responsible for such a big gap?
Used RV Market Trends: What’s Happening & What’s Next?
Used RV values dropped throughout 2024, following typical seasonal patterns.
Used Travel Trailers and 5th Wheels Values have been on a slow decline the past 3 months. We haven’t seen Used Camper Prices this low since before the pandemic.

Used Motorhome Prices have fluctuated, but are seeing a decline as well.

WHAT THE USED SALES VALUES TELL US
BOTTOM LINE: Right now is one of the best times to buy a used RV.
But don’t wait too long — prices are likely about to start climbing.
Why?
- Warmer weather brings more buyers into the market.
- New RV price creep will push used values higher — used RV prices always follow new RV trends.
- Dealer inventory is shrinking, meaning used RVs will become more in demand.
If you’re looking for a used RV, now is the time to buy before seasonal demand pushes prices up.
Used Campers are at their lowest prices in years.

What’s Driving These Market Changes?

Several key factors are shaping RV sales and pricing trends:
- Interest Rates Still High – Dealers can’t afford to carry as much inventory, leading to fewer choices on the lot.
- Overproduction Hangover – Pandemic-era manufacturing flooded the market. That excess inventory is finally drying up.
- Tariffs & Material Costs – Steel & aluminum tariffs are driving up RV costs. The full impact is still unfolding.
- Serious Buyers, Fewer Shoppers – RV show attendance was lower than in previous years, but those who did attend were more serious about buying.

What This Means for Buyers & Sellers in 2025
If you’re buying a new RV:
- Prices are creeping up, so waiting could mean paying more.
- Dealers are carrying fewer models, so if you have your eye on a specific floorplan, don’t assume it will be available later.
If you’re buying a used RV:
- Right now is the best time to buy before demand pushes prices up.
- Inventory is shrinking, so choices will be more limited in the coming months.
If you’re selling an RV:
- Used RV values should start rising soon, so waiting a little longer could get you a better price.
- Dealers may offer stronger trade-in values as they look to replenish their stock.
What’s Your Next Move in the 2025 RV Market?

Now that we’ve broken down the final 2024 RV sales numbers, you’ve got a clear picture of where the market stands:
- New RV sales dipped 6.9%, with inventory tightening and prices creeping back up.
- Used RV values dropped, making right now one of the best times to buy before demand pushes prices higher.
- Market trends are shifting—dealers are carrying fewer models, and interest rates are still a factor.
