Searching for a couple’s camper can be as frustrating as it is fun. Sure, you have lots of choices, but finding the perfect camper that is under 32 feet, yet has all the features you’re looking for, is no easy task.
At Bish’s RV we help couple’s find campers all year long. We know that most times the smaller-sized campers don’t have the big features that the larger RVs have. That just changed!
Our good friend, Josh the RV Nerd, recently got an exclusive first look at the 32-foot Grand Surveyor 268FKBS from Forest River. This review will cover the price, the specs and features — and show you some similar RVs like it, just in case the 268FKBS is not exactly what you want.
By the end of this article, you will know all about the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS, so you can decide if it is the couple’s camper for your next RV adventure.

Living Area of the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
Stepping inside the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS RV by Forest River, you’re immediately struck by how big this little trailer is. It’s surprising how roomy it feels, more so than you might expect from just looking at pictures.
Theater Seating: A Highlight of Comfort
One of the standout features in the living area is the 74″ theater seats. These aren’t just ordinary seats; they’re designed with ultimate comfort in mind. Imagine this: you can either cozy up close for a movie night or, if you’re feeling like you need a bit of space, just flip down the middle armrest for a little separation. It’s like having the best of both worlds – closeness when you want it and space when you need it.
Entertainment Features: More Than Just a TV
The television in the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS isn’t just any TV. Mounted at a perfect viewing angle, it reduces the need for any uncomfortable neck craning, making your viewing experience more enjoyable. Plus, the downward angle of the TV ensures everyone has a great view. It’s like having your own mini cinema on the road!
The living area isn’t just about watching TV though. You’ve got USB plugs and household outlets under the TV shadow box, making it a great spot for charging devices or even setting up a laptop. And let’s not forget the generous drawer space, providing room for all your essentials.
Kitchen of the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
THE “FK” in 268FKBS stands for “Front Kitchen — and the kitchen area in the 268FKBS is a chef’s dream, particularly the generous counter space, which provides tons of space for prepping meals.
The refrigerator is cleverly designed. At first glance, you might think the door opens the wrong way, but it’s actually positioned for maximum convenience while you’re in the kitchen. The best part? The hinges are adjustable, so you can flip the door to open whichever way suits your flow.
The kitchen’s appliances have plenty of easy-access outlets. The cabinetry, built with pocket-screwed lumber core, is sturdy and durable, and the overhead doors are strutted, so it stays open when you’re using it and doesn’t result in some kind of awkward juggling act.
It’s like they squeezed a slice of home right into this camper’s kitchen!
Bathroom of the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
The bathroom in the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS features dual vanity sinks. This unique setup provides practicality without sacrificing counter space. Interestingly, the second sink is positioned away from the toilet, allowing both sinks to be used simultaneously, a smart deviation from the typical RV bathroom layout.
Additionally, the bathroom includes two sliding privacy doors, offering the option to close off the toilet area for more privacy.
Storage solutions in this bathroom are quite clever. There’s a mix of open and closed storage, including a tall cabinet. However, it’s worth noting that the storage doesn’t extend all the way to the floor, so it’s best used for items that don’t require deep space.
The shower in this RV’s bathroom is another highlight. It’s a rectangular design, offering more headroom across the shower due to the RV’s 6-foot-9-inch interior height and linear ceiling.
Another neat feature is the bathroom is equipped with tankless on-demand water heater controls and double gray tank heaters, enhancing the overall functionality.
BONUS BATHROOM FEATURE: WASHER AND DRYER HOOK-UPS!
One of the absolutely best features of the Grand Surveyor 258FKBS is located in its bathroom. The interior of the bathroom’s large closet is prepped for either a combo or stackable washer dryer, a rare and convenient feature in a travel trailer of this size.
You just don’t find a compact camper like this with washer/dryer hookups. Big Win!
Bedroom of the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
The Grand Surveyor 268FKBS RV’s queen-size is located in a slide out — the “BS” in 268FKBS stands for “Bed Slide”. The bed itself is a custom king, more accurately described as an Olympic queen, measuring 66 inches wide by 80 inches long. This size offers a comfortable balance between space and functionality.
Above the bed, the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS features flexible reading lights. Additionally, the overhead cabinets are equipped with struts for easy access and use.
However, the bedroom design in the 268FKBS is a mix of hits and misses. The dresser storage and the vertical dresser offer great space for belongings, but the area across from the bed feels like a missed opportunity for additional storage.
While still in the “prototype” stage, the current design opens up the space visually, but it could benefit from additional hanging closet storage, especially considering that installing a washer-dryer unit would eliminate existing hanging space. This balance of storage and open space is something potential buyers might want to consider based on their specific needs.
Traveling in the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
When the slides are retracted, the space becomes a lot tighter, particularly near the front kitchen area. Depending on your size, you may find it a bit challenging to navigate through to the front, although it’s still possible for many to squeeze around carefully.
This setup allows access to essential features like the sink and refrigerator during travel stops, making it convenient for quick meals without needing to fully extend the RV.
Towing the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
Towing the 268FKBS requires some consideration due to its size and weight distribution. It’s not ideally suited for half-ton vehicles, mainly because of the significant hitch weight, especially when considering the slide in front of the axles and storage concentrated in the kitchen area.
Perfect Size for State Park Camping.

Features on the Outside of the Grand Surveyor 268FKBS
This model doesn’t skimp on essential features; it has durable azdel walls and a heated and enclosed underbelly with radiant barrier layering.
Additionally, the transition from manual to power stabilizers in the Grand Surveyor enhances the ease of setup, making it ideal for hassle-free camping. The large awning extends the living space to the outdoors, providing substantial patio space for relaxation and outdoor activities.
While the front pass-through storage isn’t enormous, t’s a significant improvement over other front kitchen models that offer limited or no storage in this area. The prototype model does have some obstructions in the storage space, but these are expected to be removed in the final production model, providing unobstructed storage access.
The RV also includes a compact but feature-rich camp kitchen and a tankless on-demand water heater, further enhancing its outdoor utility.
Top 7 Potential Problems With the
- Tight Space in Road Mode: When the slides are closed, navigating through to the front kitchen can be challenging, particularly for individuals with larger builds.
- Bedroom Storage Limitations: The bedroom lacks some storage opportunities, especially around the area across from the bed, which could have been utilized better.
- Towing Requirements: The RV’s weight distribution, particularly with the front slide, may be too heavy for half-ton vehicles. A stronger towing vehicle is needed, which could be a limitation for those with lighter towing capacity vehicles.
- Exterior Storage Access: The front pass-through storage, while present, is not very large and has obstructions in the prototype model. Even though these are expected to be resolved in production, the storage space may still be limited compared to other models.
- Tankless Water Heater Location: The tankless on-demand water heater controls are located in the bathroom, which might not be the most convenient placement for adjusting water temperature, especially for those outside the bathroom.
- Ladder Not Included: The RV is designed to accommodate a telescopic removable ladder for roof access, but this is not included as a standard feature, requiring an additional purchase.
- Limited Hanging Closet Space: Installing a washer-dryer unit in the bedroom eliminates the hanging closet space, which could be a significant drawback for those needing more storage for clothing.
