If you are in the market for a luxury fifth wheel toyhauler floorplan with a comfortable living room, you might have found yourself struggling to find the camper that is just right for you. If this is the case, Grand Design RV’s Momentum 395MS could be the floorplan for you!
The Grand Design Momentum 395MS is one of the most popular fifth wheel toyhauler floorplans in America, and for good reason. Not only is the 395MS extremely well-built, but it also features an incredible living room space that makes this toyhauler feel like a rear-living fifth wheel setup with a garage attached.
This article will show you everything you need to know about the Grand Design Momentum 395MS including its features, measurements, weights, and construction quality so you can decide if this toyhauler is right for you.
Floorplan
Momentum 395MS Exterior Features
On the outside of this camper, you are going to find plenty of features that will keep you and your family entertained and at ease while you’re out and about.
The 395MS has an outdoor entertainment area where you’ll find a TV, outdoor speakers, and three awnings along the doorside of the camper. On the patio deck, there is also an awning to provide nice shade for you and your family while you relax in the summer sun.
Setting up camp can be a pain, this can be especially true with larger campers. Luckily, the Grand Design Momentum makes it simple with a six-point hydraulic automatic leveling system. Leveling out a camper has never been easier!
The all-in-one utility center with a water bay allows you to hook up to city water all in one space. Once it’s time to leave the campsite, all of the flush and dump valves are also located in this utility center. This Momentum has a 155 gallon fresh water tank capacity, and a 104 gallon grey and black water tank capacity–some of the largest RV tanks!
The 395MS also comes with a water purifier already installed (a rarely added feature). It is the thing that looks like the white blender bottle underneath the universal water bay. This purifies your fresh water and makes it refreshing to drink. As Bobby Boucher says, “Now that’s what I call high-quality H2O!”
Momentum 395 MS Living Room Features
The living room is where this camper separates itself from the rest. When you step foot inside the 395MS you are greeted by the kitchen and living room areas.
This camper has a dual opposing slide setup with couches opposite each other on both slides. One side has a free-standing dinette, while the other has a residential-sized fridge and pantry space for the kitchen.
The couch has two seats that you can attach to the pull-out couch on the fridge-side in order to complete the lounge area. With the addition of these two seats, the couch becomes an L-shaped couch and transforms the main area of the camper into a true living room.
Across from the couches is the entertainment center, which has a 40-inch TV, an electric fireplace, and a sound system.
This Momentum has residential-sized kitchen appliances. This means the fridge, stove, oven, and microwave are all going to be larger than the appliances typically found in an RV. The kitchen sink is also a deeper, split sink, which gives you one area for washing dishes and another area for rinsing your hands (or any other way you choose to use it!).
The plentiful storage areas found throughout a Grand Design RV is one of the best things about this manufacturer. The 395MS has plenty of deep storage spaces that are perfect for storing kitchen utensils, pots, pans, food, and whatever else you can fit/want to bring to the campsite. That means you no longer have to worry about where you’re going to fit all of your spouse’s countless knick-knacks!
Momentum 395 MS Garage Features
Of course, we have to talk about the garage when talking about a toyhauler. The Momentum garage has a couple unique features that aren’t in other toyhaulers. For one, this garage has a garage-camera prep. This way owners can check on their toys or kids, or whatever else they decide to put in this area.
Some 395MS models also have the world’s smallest half-bath! (Okay, maybe it isn’t really, but it’s a contender!) No, it isn’t very plus-size friendly, but it’s a great place to send your kids or guests to drop a stinky deuce, rather than having them handle business in your own personal toilet. This area has a sink, a porcelain toilet, and a mirror.
The garage space is 14′ long and 101” wide. If the camper has a half bath, then the true garage size is 9’ 9.5” long and 8′ 5″. This space also features a washer/dryer prep area just outside of the half-bath. So, if you do decide that you are going to install a washer/dryer in the camper, that is another thing that you are going to have to account for when using the garage space. All 395MS’s have the washer/dryer hookups (half bath or not).
The 395MS has a payload capacity of 4,400 lbs, so you can bring most of your toys for the trip.
The garage space has a triple insulated garage floor, Tuff-ply gas and oil resistant flooring, and 2,500 lb rated tie downs that are anchored to the chassis. The happi-jack beds also rise up and down and allow for 92″ of clearance for storing your toys.
Heading out of the garage onto the patio, there are, as previously mentioned, features that make it great for lounging around and relaxing in comfort. The patio awning spans the total length of the patio deck. There are also sliding porch doors that allow for easy access in and out of the camper. These doors are easy to set-up and transform, so however you decide to use them, you can easily configure the doors to suit any need.
The 395MS also comes with two anti-gravity chairs that make relaxing an easy task.
Momentum 395 MS Bedroom Features
When you buy a camper, one main concern is how comfortable the bedroom is. Obviously, it’s important to have a comfortable sleeping space, but don’t forget that it’s also important to have space for you and your spouse’s clothes and accessories. Luckily, this camper’s got both. With a wardrobe slide, you’ve got the space you need to store extra clothes.
There is more storage underneath the bed. The 395MS comes with a queen sized bed, but if you do feel the need for a king, you can option that in.
The bathroom in this camper is incredible. Not only does it also have a porcelain throne like the one in the half-bath, but it also has an insane shower with four separate nozzles!
The shower is also much larger and makes a typical travel trailer shower look and feel fun-sized.
Momentum 395 MS Construction Quality
You may have heard one of your kids or grandkids talk about how they are “built different.” Well, this camper is quite literally built different. The Momentum product line is built using Grand Design’s top-quality lamination process, an aluminum frame, galvanized steel backers, and a true 101” wide body frame with 12” I-beam main rails. These I-beams create an easier towing experience, and are one of the reasons why Grand Design campers are easier to tow than most other fifth wheel RVs.
Every Momentum is also built with an arctic package. This means each camper is fully insulated and is prepped for late-fall, early spring, and sometimes even winter camping. This camper’s underbelly is heated and enclosed with 12V heat pads on all of the tanks that can be remotely controlled. There’s also a 2” heat duct that runs through the underbelly to provide heat to the tanks and throughout the undercarriage of the camper.
The AC in this camper is known as a stealth AC system that allows for air to flow efficiently and quietly throughout the camper. This system allows for 23% more airflow and increases the amount of output for each air duct. This way you and your company can have normal-sounding conversations without the need to shout over the blasting AC.
Momentum RVs have a few unique or rare camper features. Some of these include a bottle opener in the kitchen area, an assisted ramp door for easy usage, an exterior subwoofer that deafens the amount of bass going to other campsites when you’re listening to music, and an exhaust fan that is vented to the exterior. This fan removes any moisture scents, and heat coming from inside the RV and makes controlling the temperature much easier.
The construction quality of any camper is incredibly important. No one wants to deal with several problems right off the bat, and no one wants to keep having problems with a camper they purchase. That is why Grand Design RV stands out among most other camper manufacturers. We have a whole article that talks about this topic more in depth, which you can read here.

Is the Momentum Right for You?
Is a Grand Design Momentum toyhauler right for you? Only you can determine that. If you’re looking for a top-quality toyhauler that has a few unique features you won’t find elsewhere, then this is a great option to consider.
Now, keep in mind, there are several Momentum floor plans. The right one for you will depend on how you intend to use it. If you want a more comfortable living room space, for example, then you may love the 395MS. But if you’re looking to bring a large side-by-side off-road vehicle with you, then this might not be the one because of the space the half-bath takes up in the garage. This ties back to the idea that your camper has to fit your wants and needs.
Grand Design sells high quality RVs with luxurious features and they offer a lot of customer service support after the sale. All these benefits do come at a price, so a Grand Design RV will be more expensive than the average RV. If price is a major concern, and you’re looking for the lowest price for your fifth wheel, then the Grand Design Momentum 395MS may not be the camper you’re looking for.
If you’re not so sure about the Grand Design 395MS or don’t like its features and floor plan, then check out these fifth wheel toyhauler options below.
