How Did We Get This Data and is it Accurate?
This article is the first of its kind published for public view.
The 35 states listed above sell registration information about the RV purchased, a little about who bought it*, and the RV dealer that sold the RV to Statistical Surveys who then sells the information to dealers across America.
This information allows us to accurately show the top-selling RV dealerships in each of these 35 states.
This data is incredibly insightful and helps dealers and RV manufacturers recognize their current position in the market. RV dealers, like Bish’s RV, comb through this RV registration data to help identify areas where we can improve in our current markets and expand our footprint into new markets.
We’ve used this information for years, but now it’s time we share it with you, so you can use this helpful information to find your RV.
At Bish’s RV, we even drill down one step further to look at which local dealerships customers prefer.
To be clear – this ranking is NOT a list of all sales by the dealership – but a ranking of sales based on how many of the RVs a dealer sells are sold to customers who live in the state or within a defined area close to the dealer.
This area adjustment means that if a dealership operates really close to a border of a state, it would recognize customers who live out of state, but still live within an area known as the dealership’s Defined Business Trade Area.
Since every New RV purchased has to be registered with the state to be licensed for use, this is the most accurate aggregated RV Sales data available.
*No personal information about consumers is shared – The city, county, state, and zip code of the RV buyer is all that is provided.
Why are 15 States Missing From this List?
Fourteen states don’t share information on the dealership used to buy a registered RV.
These states are: Arizona, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Delaware, Minnesota, Oregon, Nevada, Alaska, Oklahoma, Kansas, and South Dakota.
You’ll also notice that we do not include Hawaii. Hawaii does report dealer information, but unfortunately, we don’t have any information of any RV dealer licensed to sell new RVs in Hawaii. So all Hawaiian Registered RVs are purchased out of state. But Aloha to you Hawaiians out there (and thank you spell check for helping me spell Hawaiian).

What Information is Shared by the DMV After I Buy an RV? Is My Personal Information Safe?
Did this information make you concerned about the safety of your personal information? Well, rest assured, that if you have purchased a new or used RV and licensed it in your state – your personal information is not being shared in association with this RV information.
Some states (not all) can and do sell your personal data. Again, this is not included with the information we receive regarding RV Registrations. Some marketing companies do, however, pay to receive phone and mailing lists that are sold by DMVs as a way to supplement state income.

At Bish’s we know it can seem strange that an RV dealer is sharing info that may direct you to another RV dealership, but we’re doing everything we can to create a new kind of RV buying experience.
